How the conversion works
For a US size, subtract 1.5 from a women's size to get the men's size, and add 1.5 to a men's size to get the women's size. The result is rounded to the nearest half size. For example, a women's 9 is a men's 7.5, and a men's 9 is a women's 10.5.
Why the result is only a starting point
- Brands differ. Some sneaker brands use a 1 or 2 size difference. Check the size chart on the product page.
- Width. Men's shoes are often a bit wider, so a narrow foot may need a smaller or narrower fit.
- Unisex listings. Many brands list unisex or men's sizes with a women's equivalent. The two sizes shown are the same shoe.
- Kids and youth sizes. They run on a separate scale. Do not use this chart for them.
Tips for a good fit
- Measure your feet in the afternoon, when they are slightly larger.
- Leave about a thumb's width of space in front of your longest toe.
- Try shoes on with the socks you plan to wear.
