Age in days, weeks and months
A year has 365 days, and 366 in a leap year. Over a long period the average is 365.2425 days, so the totals below are close approximations. The calculator above uses the real calendar and gives the exact figure.

Some round numbers to know: 1,000 days is about 2 years and 9 months, and 10,000 days is about 27 years and 5 months.
How age is counted
- Take the later date (today, or the date you picked) and the date of birth.
- Count the full years between them.
- Count the full months left after that.
- Count the days left after that.
If the birthday has not come yet this year, the year count is one lower. Months are counted by calendar, so a month can be 28, 29, 30 or 31 days.
Leap day birthdays
A person born on February 29 has a birthday every four years. In other years, many people celebrate on February 28 or March 1. The legal date used for things like driving ages differs between places, so check the rule that applies to you.

How do I calculate my exact age?
Subtract your birth year from the current year. If your birthday has not happened yet this year, subtract 1. Then count the months and days since your last birthday. This calculator does all of it for you.
